"One Handgun a Month" Law - Exception added

An exception has been added to the "One Handgun a Month" law for POST-certified community colleges that are conducting POST-certified law enforcement training.

Ammunition Possession by Minors - New Law

It is now a misdemeanor to transfer any ammunition to a minor who you know or should know is prohibited from possessing ammunition.

Exceptions to the Concealed and Loaded Gun Laws - Reminder

In addition to reading the exceptions in Chapter 2, be sure you also read Chapter 3 for places where those exceptions may not apply, and Chapter 8 on assault weapons, which have their own rules.

Open-Carry CCW Licenses - Reminder

Open carry CCW license holders may only carry inside their county of issuance. 

Schools and Colleges - Additional Weapons Prohibited

Box cutters and razor blades are now prohibited in schools, colleges, and universities.  See Penal Code Section 626.10 for details.

Gun Possession in National Parks - New Law

As of February 22, 2010, you may possess guns in U.S. National Parks in California (but not inside federal buildings in those parks) if you are permitted to possess those guns under California law and you follow all other laws. As such, California CCW licenses are now effective in these parks.

Body Armor Possession by Convicted Violent Felons - Under Review

The applicable law, Section 12370, is currently under review by the courts and may be unenforceable.  However, it may be reinstated at any time.
